Visiting Albuquerque

The city of Albuquerque can pride itself on being one of the most amiable North American cities for Spanish speakers–according to a recent North American poll comprised of Hispanic readership. Albuquerque is the ideal host for a regional event such as ours because it boasts such a proportionately large Latino population along with a prominent Spanish speaking culture and heritage.

Yes! We bring something uniquely different to the otherwise cookiecutter dance festival formula parleyed around the world. No, we don’t just hole-up in one hotel for four nights and three days, like most do, offering workshops and internationally renowned instructors and performances one after the other. Although we do offer three full days of workshops, ABQ LDF is a series of salsa dance parties that show-off different parts of Albuquerque and a variety of Latin dance forms.  The Albuquerque Latin Dance Festival will immerse you in a few enchanted places in our city—Old Town, The Old Town Plaza and Downtown at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. But please, come a little early and stay a little while longer to avail yourselves to the beauty that is New Mexico.

Site Seeing

A couple blocks from your hotel lies the heritage of Old Town Plaza lined with rustic and refined eateries and shops and museums. A five minute ride from Old Town through downtown and you are at First and Central where, if you wish, you can hop the Rail Runner commuter train and emabark on a beautiful 70 minute train ride through big sky county that terminates in heart of the star city, Santa Fe. Spend a day or an afternoon with the history and allure of “The City Different.”

Old Route 66

While back in Albuquerque, a 10 minute ride from your hotel will take you to the university district and Knob Hill which skirts Central Avenue—the Old Route 66.  You’ll find throwhback diners and/or the latest in food fusion all along this stretch of Americana.
